Three Allegheny County residents charged after alleged theft and high-speed chase in Centre County

Three Allegheny County residents have been charged after they allegedly stole from vehicles and led police on a chase in Centre County.

At about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday police spotted a man outside of a vehicle along Airport Road in Ferguson Township. Officers were investigating reports of thefts from vehicles at Bernel Park.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, when an officer activated his emergency lights, the man entered the vehicle, which then took off at a “high rate of speed.”

During a pursuit with police, another vehicle was struck, injuring the driver, who was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment, according to the affidavit.

The pursuit ended in a field along West College Avenue.

Police have charged Trynae Moore, 27, Wilkinsburg, and Shaquan Moore, 31, and Simone Caldwell, 48, both of Pittsburgh, with escape and theft-related charges.

Trynae Moore, who was the driver and was found with stolen credit cards, a driver’s license and miscellaneous other cards, faces additional charges of accidents involving death or personal injury, and fleeing or attempting to elude police.

The three were arraigned Thursday before District Judge Gregory M. Koehle, of Centre Hall, and were sent to the Centre County Correctional Facility.

Bail was denied for the three due to being a “public safety and flight risk.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 16 before Koehle.

Online court dockets did not list attorneys for the three Thursday afternoon.
