BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Former Bedford County district attorney Bill Higgins says he's been elected the next chair of the Bedford County Republican Committee. Higgins served as the county's district attorney from 2004 to 2018, which is when he was charged for misconduct related to trading lighter sentence recommendations for sexual favors from drug dealers and their friends. Higgins pled guilty to the charges in exchange for avoiding jail time.

Nathan Miranda, of Winchendon, was arrested and charged with OUI-Drugs, OUI-Drugs causing serious injury, possession of a Class B drug, and other motor vehicle offenses, Massachusetts State Police said.  The crash happened just before 9:15 a.m. near mile marker 82 in Charlton7 when Miranda's 2017 Dodge 1500 hit a box truck, police said.
