PA Turnpike to reopen service plazas on Friday

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced that it will reopen its service plazas on Friday, after they were briefly shutdown to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

All 17 of the PA Turnpike service plazas will be reopened Friday at 7 a.m., according to a news release, and restrooms inside the plazas will be open 24/7.

The Turnpike Commission also said that limited food options will be available, for takeout only, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for Friday, when food will not be served until 8 a.m.

However, North Midway and Valley Forge service plazas will return to 24-hour food service, the release added.

All plazas will have limited staffing but fuel and convenience stores will also remain open 24 hours, officials added.

The Turnpike Commission also stated that the outside portable toilets will remain available for another week.
